There’s something about farm life that fills me with joy and peace. It’s in the air I breathe, the sounds of animals stirring, and the quiet beauty of the wooded trails that wind across my property. Every step I take out here reminds me that God’s signature is written all over creation.
From caring for my cats and dogs, to gathering eggs from the chickens, to enjoying the occasional horseback ride or even a thrilling barrel run—there is life, energy, and blessing everywhere I look. Farm life may be demanding, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.
🐓 Raising Chickens: A New Experience

Over the years, I’ve had many chickens. Truth be told, I never hand-raised them before. I usually bought grown hens from a friend, and while they gave me eggs, they never gave me affection. In fact, most of them seemed to despise me—flying at my head and attacking me every chance they got!
But this year, I decided to do something different. I raised my own flock from chicks, and the difference has been night and day. These little ones are gentle, sweet, and while they aren’t exactly tame, they respond with curiosity when I baby talk to them or mimic their sounds. It’s as if they understand me, and they seem to enjoy the interaction just as much as I do.
🌱 Lessons in the Garden

My garden is another place where I find God’s presence in abundance. There’s something sacred about planting, tending, and watching the fruits of your labor grow. Sometimes I just sit in the garden quietly, listening for the Lord’s voice, and He teaches me lessons about patience, care, and stewardship. Every sprouting leaf feels like a reminder that He makes all things new.
✨ Finding Joy in Everyday Life
When I reflect on all of this, I realize that these moments are what keep me grounded. Farm life gives me joy, focus, and balance when stress threatens to overwhelm me. I truly believe that everyone needs this kind of connection in their life—whether it’s tending animals, working the land, or simply caring for something outside of themselves.

“ For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse.”
Romans 1:20 (NKJV)
And if you live in the city? Don’t worry. Joy in creation is still possible. Try dog walking, volunteer at a local stable, or a zoo, or simply look for ways to interact with animals. God’s creatures—whether chickens, horses, or pets in the city—need love and care, and in return, they bless us with peace and joy.
🌟 Closing Thoughts
Farm life has taught me that creation itself is one of God’s greatest gifts to us. From the playful chatter of chickens to the stillness of a garden, His fingerprints are everywhere. We each need to find this level of joy, so that when stress rises and life gets busy, we can fully function, focus, and find peace in His creation.
