When Storms Roll

Life can be unpredictable. One moment, everything seems to be going perfectly, and the next, you find yourself battling a storm. Some days, you wake up to blessings that roll in like a wave, and other days, you are faced with a barrage of challenges that can leave you feeling overwhelmed and helpless. Today was one of those days for me. A day when everything seemed to steamroll, and I found myself struggling to keep my head above water.

My husband and I have been going through a tough transition phase in our lives. We’ve faced several setbacks, including the breakdown of both our vehicles, one after the other, and an unfortunate incident where our baby girl Bella was attacked by a dog. On top of that, we’ve also had to deal with accidents and deaths in our extended family. It’s been a trying time, and sometimes it feels like the universe is conspiring against us.

But even amidst all the chaos and turmoil, I’ve learned to find joy in the little things. It’s the small things that add up to make a big difference in our lives. Today, for instance, I discovered how much I love tiny gadgets from my husband’s favorite bookstore. I never knew I had a thing for tiny things until today. These simple pleasures helped me forget my worries and even made me forget that I was having a panic attack.

It’s easy to overlook the smaller things in life, especially when we are dealing with bigger problems. But it’s important to remember that joy is the strength of our lives. When we lose sight of the little things that bring us joy, we can quickly become consumed by our problems, and that can lead to despair and hopelessness.

“For the joy of the Lord is
your strength.”

Psalms 73:26

So, I encourage you to take a moment and appreciate the small things in your life. It could be the smell of fresh coffee or the sound of birds chirping outside your window. Whatever it is, take a moment to savor it and let it bring you joy. Because, in the end, it’s the small things that make life worth living.
